One Day Young in Hackney, Jenny Lewis

This book is so poignant and beautiful, forming a real connection with the women in the portraits. There is an interesting quality to the photographs that separates them from a typical look at mother and child. Each photograph offers an insight, into a moment where life has completely changed for each of the women. The low contrast in the photographs, echoes the seemingly euphoric and personal experience of each new mother with little distractions. It is as though the rest of the world fades away into background noise, leaving just a raw emotion and moment of pure love. Well worth a buy.
